Rostelecom designs platform to test digital financial technologies

SOCHI, Oct 5 (PRIME) -- Russian state-controlled telecom operator Rostelecom has designed a digital sandbox where companies can test digital financial technologies, President Mikhail Oseyevsky said at the Finopolis forum on Thursday.

“What if we could become a bank? The good news is that we don’t want to be a bank, not even an operator of a payment system. We want to stay a technological partner, a partner for the whole banking and financial industry,” Oseyevsky said.

“It’s crucial to maintain leadership. The second task of a partnership for us is the ability to create communities with companies, developers of new technologies. We will make a presentation on Tuesday (October 10), and today I’d like to announce that we’re ready to provide a platform under the application programming interface model, a digital sandbox, which will allow anyone with products that are in compliance with Rostelecom’s activities to make prototypes, test such technologies.”
